hello i have 3 convicts and about 3 days ago two of them started to shake while rubbing their bellys on the rocks pushing the rocks making a hole. the fish would also rub up against each other. but what im confused about is every once and a while the male would bite the female when she trys to go near the cave they selected.. plz help lol

If you have a m/f combo , you should get rid of the other one as it will be killed if they spawn....do you know if you have m/f ?

rubbing and sparring off against one another is normal behavhoir...sometimes they do it for days....if you have your cons in a community tank, and they spawn, the entire tanks members will be harrassed alot....so maybe moving your breeding pair to their own 20 gal would help alot....goodluck!

they have been doing this off and on for about 6 months and there have been no eggs im not 100% sure if they are m/f pair and they are with all cichlids besides 3 big bala sharks and a very mean angle fish. p.s they dont bite the other fish other than the ocational chasing them away from one cave. thank you for your help

your welcome...if you havent had babies in 6 months , they could all be the same sex..how big are they....a female con will have a red/orange color around her belly..can you post pics and maybe we can tell?

a bala or an angel wont stand a chance if they spawn...cons are meanies and will take on fish 10x's their size when their babies are there

haha then im pretty sure i have all females cuz they all have orange on the bellys and the biggest one is about 2 and a half 3 inches the others are about 2 inches

haha good i dont want any babies my tank is already crowded 23 fish one 55 gallon tank luckly our irradesent shark ...(srry for the bad spelling)
but yeah the shark is 2 feet long in a 125 gallon tank (6 feet long 1 foot deep 2 feet tall i beleave) but yeah he is kinda big for it he has a pleaco about a foot long and a red tailed catfish about a foot long with him we r planning on getting a 390 gallon tank for 700$ out of texas. after we get that i get the 125 gallon and my fish will be happy =]
