I've got a 30-gallon with a breeding pair of convicts, about 70 nearly grown fry, a bristlenose plec, and a small Chinese Algae Eater. The plec lives most of his life under the filter casing and doesn't seem to be very efficient at cleaning any algae at night, I'm assuming because he's too frightened. The
CAE holds his own better, and does his job. I realise I'm storing up problems for myself because the CAE will grow large and will stop eating algae, but that's a separate issue.
All in all, I think it's a grouping that copes as best as can be expected.
