HI Shawnie
Love the video... your convicts look great! Congrats on the baby fry!
Looking at the video makes me wish that I had brought home the convicts instead of the terror Jewel cichlids! They are tearing up everybodys tailfins in the tank. Hmmmm... maybe I should bring my jewels back and pick up two convicts. I know its off topic a bit, but can you tell me how to tell the gender of them? Id like to try my hand at a pair...myself. Your convicts are gorgeous an look so healthy!

Im in a dilema also...either I go out and buy a new set up or buy a divider because Id like to keep these two breeding...and u sex them by the female having a bit of red/orange on her belly...and the male was suppose to have a lil hump on his head...but he doesnt ...the red/orange is a tell tale way ....ty for the comment

I'll have to check out the vid later at home its blocked at work. Everytime I ask about convict tank mates I'm told the convict will just kill everyone else, so I'm thinking of putting my female convict and firemouth in a 30G and add a male convict. This solves the aggression problem which may become a real problem in the future from what I'm seeing and also gives me space in my 55G to maybe add a couple other species like gouramis.

convicts are great when NOT in pairs LOL ..if you get a mating pair, they can take on anything ....have plenty of either caves, or places to hide the fry, and they pretty much keep anything away from them...

Congrats!!
My keyholes have given me the same sort of surprise. Tho I got to see it happen. The difference between convicts and keyholes temperaments is like night and day.
