10 gallon and new pair (Young)

I have a ten gallon refuge tank that I have never had to use, so I put a young couple in. with in three weeks they had there first fry, they had about 100 easy but after 1 week looks like I am down to 15 or so.
I know its their 1st spawn and I know I need a bigger tank. I am waiting to get a larger tank. I have a established 75 gallon african tank set up but I don't want to introduce them to it.
My observations so far are that the male seems to be the dominate parent, he seems to take better care of the fry than the mother, and he seems to chase her away, she has retired to a corner in the tank and has lost some color, but has gotten brighter rust color again, she cant be ready to spawn again after 1 week of having fry can she?
any input would be appreciated.

Convicts are always ready to breed. Our pair we had, the parents both did the parenting, but the female was much more aggressive than the male.

Both of mine are in charge, depending on what time it is. LOL And they are ALWAYS ready to spawn. However, I've found the best birth control is leaving the babies where they are. I had nickel-sized babies, took them out...4 days later I had new babies.

Edit:

And yes, you do need more room. I fonud a thing on cichlid-forum.com that tells how to setup a 20L for them. I did that, and they have plenty of room now.
