Convict Tank Bottom Feeders
So, what dottom dwellers do you have with your convicts?
I'm looking into getting a bottom feeder for my convict tank and I'm going to need a rough and tumble selection because my female.... wow.... shes tough!
I'm looking for some REAL experiences here... Ive read most of the articles out there, so I'm looking for "been there, done that, this is what works for me advice..."
Thanks!

Re: Convict Tank Bottom Feeders
Regular plecos and/or bristlenose, depending on tank size. BN are bulky enough that most things won't screw with them. And on top of that they don't seem to take crap. They either dart away quickly or stand their ground and I've yet to see mine injured.

I'd get any kind just make sure you have a good hiding spot for them so when Miss meanie goes on a rampage...it'll have somewhere to go.

Re: Convict Tank Bottom Feeders
Stacked slate or other flat rocks, stacked so that the plecos can fit, but not the cons, is a workable solution.

Hey gang, a quick update. I chose a black and white striped Raphael Catfish (keeping with whole striped theme here) and introduced him on 9/6. All is well. The convicts learned that he was not one to mess with. He rarely comes out anyway, but when he does hes king. Lets hope it stays that way when we have eggs.

Trust me, the universe changes when you get eggs. LOL
My nice peaceful 40 gallon tank, with 2 females and 2 males is a warzone right now. Momma and Daddy are ruling the roost, with babies swimming everywhere. Right now, I have two very stressed out fish and two that are ready to kick their booties if they move. Thankfully, the 2 week parenthood thing is almost over. We'll see how things are soon, once they stop playing house. LOL

Well, I've had my only two casualties in the war..LOL I lost my smaller male and female this weekend. Both had been beaten up by Moma and Daddy. It wasn't a good deal, honestly.
I have decided to only keep males and the one female together in the tank. So, once I start seeing spots....my Oscar gets a treat. LOL
In short, I don't mind if they reproduce, but...I don't want a tank full.

Unfortunately if they reproduce depending on how big their tank is...you will have a tank full lmao. I love convicts...someday we'll have a pair again.

LOL..Yeah, they aren't real discriminating about who they procreate with. LOL
But, I'm just going to keep the family together. If that leads to weirdness...I can deal with it.
