Problems with Livingaquatic.com order

I am usually pretty satisfied with online orders, but I I could not believe how horribly Livingaquatic.com had handled my order.

I ordered: I received:

3 misquitofish 2 misquitofish (INCORRECT!)
2 feeder pond snails 2 feeder pond snails
2 12" airwands 1 12" airwand (INCORRECT!)
1 shrimp net 1 shrimp net
1 pkg plant sinkers 0 pkg plant sinkers (INCORRECT!)
1 java moss 1 java moss
1 water pennywort 0 water pennywort, (INCORRECT!)
*** I think they gave me some extra java moss instead of pennywort
1 stryofoam box for shipping 0 stryofoam box (INCORRECT!)
*** They left a note saying that they were out of stryofoam boxes, but gave me 2 striped trumpet snails instead


After my order was delivered, I immediately emailed the company and told them that 5 out of the 12 items I ordered did not get delivered. I asked whether I was going to receive refunds for the items I did not receive or if those items would be shipped. It's been several days and no reply yet. I'm so frustrated because I paid 100% but received less than 60% of my order!

Good morning. Hate to hear about the problems with your orders. I've never ordered from livestock. Maybe what you didn't receive is on back order. If there is a 1800 # I would surely give them a call to find out. Did it not mention anything about it on the invoice?

Good point about backordered items. Actually, my order didn't ship for almost a month because of a backorder, so I'm assuming that no other items were on backorder. My delivery did not come with an invoice. It only contained a note saying that they were out of stryofoam boxes so instead I had received 2 striped trumpet snails. If I don't receive an email from them soon, I'll call their service number to see what happened.

I recommend Drsfostersmith.com and thatfishplace.com. Both very reliable sources for aquarium supplies and other pet supplies.

Luckily, the misquitofish and java moss were fine being shipping by cardboard box instead of stryfoam box. I called the company and I should be receiving the rest of my order soon. I'm so happy that I'm not getting ripped off, but the company should send out emails to customers to let them know when items are backordered and when the items are back in stock. So if you order from Living Aquatic, I'd call to check that everything is in stock.

The 2 misquitofish I received have already reproduced! I found some tiny minnows in my net while I was surface skimming. They looked like baby guppies. Of course I put them back in the water, so hopefully they'll survive and thrive.

What the heck? MTS for styrofoam boxes? I don't think those items are no where near comparable, mts are sometimes given free from other fish hobbyist...

The shipping prices were really cheap compared to other websites selling aquatic plants and critters. But next time I'll go with a different website and pay more for shipping.

I am also having trouble with this website. I ordered 5 cherry shrimp and 3 wood shrimp with a few moss balls.Its been two weeks since i made my order and they haven't sent it out yet nor replied to my many emails and phone messages. I haven't spoken to anyone on the phone only have been able to get their answering machine. I am becoming worried that they have scammed me out money. I tried canceling my order both through email and phone a few days ago but they still haven't canceled it.
I am just furious with this company. I just want my order or my money back!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Unsocial Lobster, I'm sorry to hear that you're having problems with your order. I don't believe that the company is scamming you. Unfortunately the company does not notify you when items are currently out of stock. Some items in my order were out of stock and I waited for the shipment for weeks before calling them. They don't seem to answer emails, but if you call during business hours they will explain what is backordered. You can ask them to ship your order without the out of stock items and then have those items shipped once they are back in stock. That's what I did.
They have sent me some of the items that were previously out of stock, but months after I made my order.

Although the website isn't a scam, it still is a huge disappointment. Customers should be notified immediately when items are out of stock and shouldn't have to wait weeks or months for backordered items.

Yes, that is the phone # that I used. I need to get a hold of the company too since I still haven't received the plant sinkers that I ordered months ago. I just wish that Living Aquatic showed more respect towards customers because this is ridiculous!

I'm sorry you both are having so much trouble. That sounds ridiculously frustrating!

Thank you for posting this review - hopefully it will help lots of people avoid similar problems and I REALLY hope you both get your items soon!!!


*I recently ordered plants from ThatPetPlace.com and they came within 3 days, shipped well and they're doing great in my brackish tank. The prices there are really really good and they say on the site if something is out of stock and you can't even order it if it is out of stock. I recommend them for your future purchases; though I imagine you may be scared off from every ordering online again!

Good new!!! I finally contacted someone through the phone on Monday. They sent my order later that day. I just received my order today (Wednesday) with everything there
and only one DOA ( a bamboo shrimp)!!!!!! I'am glad everything worked out.
