Feeding my clowns

I'm going out of town for a week and my fish setter just back out a day before I leave and I can't find any body to take care of my clowns. How long can my clowns go with out food? I have a 20gal reef with a 20gal sump lots of life in the rocks. Thanks

Hi. Don't know how many clowns you have and what size. Mine survived easily on feeding blocks from the LFS for seven days. I prefer the type without the plaster, and they were gone when we returned.
The instructions supplied will help determine how much you need.

I wouldn't recommend more than a couple of days without food. They are such active critters.

They should be fine for a week if you can't get anyone to feed them for you. I've heard fish can last 2 weeks without regular feedings, especially those that munch on the live rocks. Keep in mind someone who doesn't know much about fish may do more harm than good unless you have the food preportioned out for them. I know they make those feeder discs for FW fish but not 100% positive on SW. That'd be something to look into.

I've gone out of town for a bit over week and my fish were fine. As long as they've been regularly fed before going, they'll be fine.

No such blocks for s/w as far as I know. Even if ther ewas one, I would not trust it nor trust inexperienced parttime fish sitter even when food is well proportioned out.

"Look, they must be hungry" and keeps on feeeding !! Seen and heard too many times. I would conditioned them well prior to leaving and should be Ok for for week or two. Just keep the tank dark so less movement, less energy required/wasted.
