Anybody ever tried putting an artificial anemone in their tank to see if your clownfish would take to it?

I have never tried it. I will next time I decide to raise more maroon babies. The only thing is you will have to wash it every 6-8 weeks, to keep it looking nice.

A guy at the local fish store has a kind of cruel but effective way of acclimating his clowns to the anenomes. He said he will bump the fish into it so it gets it's initial "shock" or whatever. He says it works great and doesn't damage the fish, I don't know if I would do it though...

I have and the clowns were suss at first but then really took to it ! Unfortunately so did every other fish in the tank when they realised they wouldnt be 'stung' ! So sort of defeats the purpose if you was thinking it would protect eggs etc ? Hope that helps ?
