seperated clowns

Hello,

I have a pair of clowns in a 20 gallon long tank together. Recently I had a fish die in the tank and this caused an ammonia swing. This ammonia swing caused the larger of the two clowns to stress and contract ICH. I have finally managed, after 2 days of trying, to catch the bigger of the two and have it in QT going under formalin treatment. The problem though is the smaller one has caught on to my attempts to catch it.

I have been using a 2 liter bottle with the top cut off and inverted so the fish swims in but cannot swim out. Inside the bottle is food to entice the fish in. I caught the big one using this but now the small one won't go anywhere and is hiding. Will he eventually come out and try to get the food in the bottle so I can catch him and keep him with the larger clown?

Likely the larger clown will be seperated for upwards of 3 weeks while I treat her for ich if I cannot catch the smaller one. Will this cause issues with the previous pairing they had?

I have not been able to find anything on this, so I am asking.

Thanks,

Talked with a fellow reefer who went through the same situation I have before and he had no problems re-introducing the female a few weeks later after the ich had cleared up.

It may affect the pairing but once they are back together they should pair up again so its sort of a 50 - 50 chance isnt it.

Leave the trap in there and only feed in the trap, not the main tank.

I trapped my six line wrasse this way, took about 4 hours. Put the trap in there with food as soon as the lights came on and didn't feed like normal. He actually could see the food through the trap and was trying to go in the side, then the flame angel actually went and nudged the wrasse around to the opening. He was weary, but after an hour or so around the entrance, he went for it, ate his prize, and was stuck. Pretty funny, actually. I'm looking to get a flasher of fairy wrasse, so I had to get this one out first.
