my new maroon fish is ripping the tentacles out from the anemone

its a pair the male is fine. Its the female doing all the work

can anyone tell me whats going on?

Strange! are you shore she is eating not rubbing..

but now she is looking ok


i just put them in the tank

think that might have anything to do with it?

clowns will pull off dyeing tenticles from anemones like pruning a plant ,, nothing to worry about

Stronzo, what kind of Anemone? Different Clowns have their preferences on anemones!

I've witnessed this behavior too with my maroon clowns and a bubble tip anemone. They were not actually eating the tentacles but they were definitely mouthing them, repeatedly during the first few days of introduction.

Did your Maroon actually rip the tentacles apart causing physical damage which can/will cause death of Anemone? If not, did Maroon settle for BTA as new home?

Nope, no ripping or tearing, just mouthing them. They did settle into the anemone.

Mine does this when the female maroon wants the anemone to move a little. Sometimes the tentacles pop off.

Because it's covering her nest of eggs. Or she just feels it needs to move. LOL

my sisters did that too, it would stick a tentacle in its mouth, and shove it back out.
