Clown's Shaking

Hey all,

I've had a pair of Clowns in my tank for about a week now and one seems to be darting at the one and the other seems to shake/seizure. I read that this is the submissive/ dominant relationship that needs to take place for one to change sex to female. I was just wondering how long will this take? It seems as though the smaller clown is darting at the larger one more often and is shaking less.

Thanks

My female clown is twice the size as the male..The female is the doninant one...This ritual of shaking (and yes it looks like seizures) can go on for months...Then all of the sudden they live in harmony once the male decides who the boss is (just like in humans) lol

haha my clown is smaller than the other and is acting more dominant. I figure it is just younger and will grow to be larger than the other if it becomes the female?

The shaking is normal when heirachy's are being established. My black clowns did that and it lasted about a month and now the one is growing larger then the other.

I wish you and your clowns the best of luck

Absolutely!! I would like to think that this is way they communicate. Can see this behavior during courtship, too.

Yeah during courtship the male does this to the female to get her attention and then they go to their cleared patch of rock and "repopulate" the tank
