clown with a swollen eye???

Check out the pic. Back on Saturday I bought 2 clown fish. After acclimating them, I put them into my quarantine tank (20 Gallon). A couple of days ago I noticed the bigger of the kinda picking on the smaller one. Last night it was pretty bad. Bad enough I felt I needed to separate them.

Since I couldn't exactly tell them to go their rooms, I moved the smaller one into my display tank. I'm home this afternoon (after *#&@* dental surgery), I notice one of the eyes on the smaller clown is swollen. I checked the other guy and his eyes are normal.

Could this be just from him being picked on and it swelled up?

The Bigger one is picking on the smaller one because the bigger is allways the female. The clowns fight for dominance, until one comes out on top. You can leave them with each other.

I'm not sure about the eye, most likely disease. Search for something on it.

It's called Popeye. Heres the page I found http://www.fishyfarmacy.com/Q&A/eye_disorders.html

Now, before you try treating it, I would make sure it's SW safe

I found more info over at About.com.

I can now pretty much trace where it came from. It would be my own fault. Yesterday he didn't have it as I stated before but when I moved him, I likely did iit when I netted him from bag I put in and then moved him into my main tank.

The LFS I deal with suggested I use something called Triple Sulfa. An anti-bacterial med. Neither Petco or Petsmart sell it. It looks like I'll have to wait until tomorrow to get it and start treating it.

The good news is that in most cases, they survive it without loss of sight. Once that all fixed up, I'll introduce the other clown fish into the main tank.

I hope it gets better, and don't worry if the bigger one picks on the smaller one, thats natural for clowns. (Dominance) I would seperate if he's getting really whooped though, like missing fins or something, but that shouldn't happen...

I've got them separated right now while the smaller one's eye heals. I'm also giving it an antibiotic to prevent infection. Pricey stuff though. $15 per box and I'm going to need 3 boxes for a 4 day run. Plus I'm looking at 2 25% water changes over the next few days.
