Dead Clown and a smoking gun!

condylactis purple, When I first got this it coughed up a dead clown fish a few hours after putting him in my nano.
Last night I bought a 2nd clown fish that I noticed was trying to nest in a tank at petco, I placed him in the tank and he got along great with the other (Smaller) clownfish, this morning the newer larger clown was dead and entangled with the condylactis, the condy had not moved, it was in the same place it was last night, My only giess is that it was killed? has anyone else heard of this? Should I get rid of the condy or just don't get another clown?

If you keep the condylactis, I would be worried for any other fish in the tank. Have you been feeding it? Different clowns are compatible with different anemones.

Yes ! Larger Condy's will sting and kill most fish you place in a tank. Mostly at night while fish are less active. How big is the Condy ?

I tried feeding it some chopped up tillapia 2 days ago, it looks really healthy,
The clown is the 1st fish I have lost in a long long time! It bothers me, As pretty as the purple condy is I am wondering if it had something to do with it. Petco said it might be that the fish died for some other reason and the condy is eating him, I just find it hard to believe that the clown fish ended up in the corner dead

he is fairly large, so you suggest I take him back to Petco if I can?
He has left the original clown alone though thats whats strange

That's up to you. The Condy Anemone does not host any clownfish, and it is rare when it does happen in an aquarium. So if that was the plan, you might want to take it back.

No the plan was to keep the condy becuase it looks Beautiful!
I got a purple tip seabay as a possible host for a clown fish, at this point I just want harmony in my 12 gallon nano!
