feeding loaches

i got myself 3 clowns today, only 1.5 inches each...wooo they'r small...

so a couple of questions...do i keep feeding the tank mates i.e. the angels the same way and hope that the clowns come to the surface and eat?? or would i need to buy food that sinks??

plus how do you feed them cucumber? should i peel the skin off and throw the a piece in as is?

Clown Loaches basically eat at the bottom of the tank.they do learn to come to the top occasionally to see what everybody else is eating though. Right now at this size I would suggest quality shrimp pellets (I use Omega One), veggie wafers, sinking Cory wafers. In order for them to get anything I suggest you feed something that will float for the angels at one end of the tank and drop sinking food in at the other end of the tank.
With good clean water and good food they will grow fast the first year and then slow down a bit.
Have you had Clown Loaches before?
Zuchinni or cucumber can be sliced like coins and weighted down with a rock and rubberband or use a veggie clip from the pet store. You can peel them or at least score the peel so it's not whole which ever you prefer.
Ober the years mine have eaten melon, zuchinni, broccoli to name a few things. They won't know it's food for a couple of times so keep trying. The melons need to be taken out after about an hour(because of the sweet juice) but the others can be left in over night.

You have posted several places that you want loaches but not the ones that lay eggs. ALL loaches lay eggs. This happens so infrequent in home aquaria as to almost be non-existant. Why do you not want loaches that lay eggs ? I don't understand what your getting at. Sorry

Want to get some loaches, but some loaches are egg layers , just want one that isnt an egg layer ! don't want to breed them or anything ! just want to get rid of the pesky snails have had for months or years !

All loaches are egg layers but you almost never see them lay much less raise young. The conditions in most home aquaria is not suitable for breeding them plus most of them have to be several years old to breed. So get some loaches and don't worry about them breeding Enjoy!

They get pretty big, 16", so I'd bet they'd have to be pretty big to breed.

the rough guess from observations in the wild is they have to be approx. seven years old

Not a bit I love talking about Loaches.
Mine were eating freeze dried blood worms out of my fingers last night
The Dojos eat from my fingers all the time and the Clowns are jealous.
