Clown Loach Behavior

Im new to fish keeping but i have a question about my Clown Loach.

He has a fake log which he hides in most of the time when he can see anyone moving around the room but when hes resting he lays on his side completely not moving at all. hes been doing this all the time i had him and was wondering if its normal behavior?

Wheres the pic? Yes Loaches of all kinds do that. The first time I saw one of my Clowns do that I nearly died, I thought he was dead then he jumped up and swam over to where I usually fed them. Smart Loach huh?

Clown Loaches can get in excess of 16 inches so he will out grow your tank. Mine got 6-7 inches in the first year.

Mine do that all the time. The first day I had them I thought they must of jumped out of the tank some how, then I found them sleeping in this cave.

Just wait until you have one that is 5 inches or so, but much bulkier than the store-bought size, usually, laying on his side asleep with the shallow breathing they do...

I would think 2-5 of them together should be fine, but you should definately listen to Butterfly on the clown loach topic... she's had them for longer than anyone else that I know of on this site.

2-5 Clown Loaches together would be super but he only has a 40 G tank so clowns are not a good idea for that tank. Mine went from very small to 7 and 8 inches in a year then went into a 75g tank.
They are aptly named "clowns" because they are definitely clowns

Thank goodness.

I've had my clown for about two weeks now...and he was worrying me to death. Every time I saw him laying on his side i'd stick the net in to make sure he wasn't dead.

Lol. Looking back I guess he probably wasn't too happy I was waking him up.
