tannins shouldn't cause cloudiness, correct?

ok. put some driftwood in my tank, and it's leeching some tannins, which is to be expected.

when i put it in, my tank was clearing up from the "new tank syndrome" cloudiness, now it's kinda gettin hazy again. never really went away though.

so my question is, tannins should just make the water brown. not brown and hazy correct? cause the stuff that leeched out into the boil water was still clear.

wish my water would hurry up and clear up. forgot how much of a pain a new tank can be when you don't have other tanks to cheat with.

Carbon will remove the tannis from the water which you probably know. Possible algae bloom.

FO SHO. hate that stupid sap. still looks sap free today tho. just havin trouble gettin my water clear. i need to have it checked. and i need to just pony up the cash and get the API liquid test kit, and a paint shaker for bottle #2. maybe i'll make a trip over to the gigantomart today. but they just use the strips to test anyway. really wish we had a good LFS around here. i would LOVE to open one up, but with economic times like these, no one is spending money on hobbies. i want to own my own business so bad.

yeah, i'm not a huge fan of the tannins, but i read that tetras like it.......how anybody knows this is beyond me.....but i was gonna keep just a hint of it in there. my carbon is probably shot anyway.

oh, and i use prime on my water changes. and salt.
