You should have done a fishless cycle but you may be overfeeding

I think that it could be your bacteria bloom...I know that I have experienced short cloudy periods when cycling my tanks. I am sure that someone more knowledgeable will be along to help soon.

When you first start your cycle, there can sometimes be a bacteria bloom in the tank. Nothing really helps it, it just goes away on it's own. Keep watching your test levels and doing water changes and it should go away soon.

Add the Prime every time you put new water into the tank. It takes away chlorine and all the other stuff that comes from the tap water.

How often are you doing water changes?

Good luck!

ya new tank sydrome is what it is..daily water changes are needed of at least 50% a day until the cycle is complete...use prime and it will detox the ammonia and nitrites for 24 hours until your next change...goodluck hope the fishies do ok!

yeah it's most likely bacteria bloom which will go away on its own. stop using chemicals to clear your water. with ammonia that high do 50% daily water changes until your cycle is complete like Shawnie said- otherwise you might end up with some dead fish.

The cloudy water means the cycle is "working". Don't add any more of the clarifier--it's best not to add unneeded chemicals to the aquarium. Same goes for any chemicals like algae killers, ammonia removers, etc. If there's a problem, like cloudy water where it's not normal (in a tank that's already cycled), then it's best to figure out what's causing it and address the cause (maybe it's overfeeding, or not enough water changes) rather than adding chemicals.

Also you don't need to use both Prime and Stress Coat at the same time--they both dechlor the water so basically their function is redundant. During cycling Prime is important because it turns some of the NH3 & NO2 into forms that won't hurt the fish. Stress Coat contains aloe vera which may be beneficial to the fish when they're stressed--if that's why you're using it, that's fine. But just letting you know you don't need to keep using one or the other once the tank is cycled.
