cloudy water

I have had fish for two days now this is actually the third day I guess I put them in the tank thursday and my water is cloudy. The fish seem healthy and they are eating alright and they are active I am still a little worried though. I don't have a test kit yet though, I am going today for one. Any advice?

it could be dust from the new rocks or sand, ect... your pH could be off hard to tell without a test kit, or it could just be bacteria bloom which will be the good ones that you need for your tank to cycle. 25% water changes daily should help clear it up make sure to not pour water in to fast , avoid disturbing the substrate should help. some fish like goldfish will never have clear water no mater what you do... i see you have platies,, they are big Bioload producers like goldfish meaning they poop alot... you will need to vaccume the gravel frequently at least once a week. i only have 2 and i vaccume the rocks every other day with 25% water changes.. seems like all they do is eat and poop it will take a few days to get the water to clear up but be patient it will get there..

Does it smell any? It could be ammonia. Prime would be a great water conditioner.

Help

all of mt readings are good and my water is almost cleared up!!!! Yay! I do have a question though one of my platies is hiding out on the bottom near the rocks I think she might be preggers, what do I do. how do I know when she is going to give birth, do i need to take her out of the tank? I don't have another cycled tank. HELP!!! There is so much to learn, I feel completely stressed.

they usually don't sit on the bottom of the tank even when giving birth at least mine didn't, sounds more like stress.it's really hard to tell without seeing the fish.. sometimes they pull through and other times thy don't make it.. i think it's best to leave them in the tank to have babies if thats what is happening you should go grab some breeding / fry grass for the babies to hide in and it's up to you but you can get a fry / breeding net for the babies or a tank divider to keep babies seperate from the bigger fish so they don't get eaten.i can tell you petsmart has the tank divider just picked one myself. and the platy fry i have seem to enjoy the divider much more than the breeder net..

it's not just the bottom of the tank she stays at she just stays to herself sometimes she is st the bottom, sometimes she hides in the boulder I have in the tank fo decoration, she looks very plump though.

sorry it took so long to repost.. my platy's never hide afraid they'll miss a meal lol... they will go be by themselves when they are ready to give birth but the other fish will be hanging around looking for that meal... mine gave birth at night evidently and i only have 1 surving fry.. she may not be pregnant, but probley is if you have males in with her or the LFS did... most lfs keep them in mixed tank so there is a good chance she is.. her tummy area will look squarish when she is close to giving birth it is really difficult to tell.. my advise would be to really check your tank several times a day if you are wanting to save any babies and put them in a breeders net (this will only work for a short time as they will quickly become to big or she could have a really large brood some have said up to 30 while others have said up to 60) or get a divider for your tank but remember they will get bigger and overstock your tank you'll either have to find homes for them, get another tank , or see if your lfs will take them.. if she does have fry whatever food your feeding the mom will do just grind it up until it resembles powder( i put it in a baggie and rub it between my fingers no mess every where ) a little pinch 4 x a day.. it is rather neat to watch the fry. i swear they get bigger daily! * when you feed the fry place your fingers with the food under the water line a rub it off it makes the food go to bottom where they'll be.
