Slightly Cloudy Water

I'm currently cycling a 50g tank, its been running for about 2 weeks now. I washed the gravel as thoroughly as i could but when the water was first in it was really cloudy. It has gotten better but it is not as clear as my 10g. Will this get better. Should i be doing water changes during my cycling?

Yes, your tank will get clearer, but this is actually a good sign. The water is cloudy because the beneficial bacteria is mass producing.

What are you using to cycle your tank?

That will determine if you do water changes. If you are doing a fishless cycle, no...you want the ammonia and nitrites to climb, the higher (within limits) with a fishless cycle, the faster your cycle will proceed, and the more fish you can first stock with....

IF you are cycling with fish you have to do water changes every day of 25-50% to keep the fish safe. This slows down the cycle, and it could take 4-6 weeks....

Most here recommend using Bio-Spira, if you use it the tank is safe right away to stock lightly with fish. This is the ONLY bacterial product we recommend.
