cleaning aquarium stones and plants...

I just bought a tom brand mr. cleaner aquarium cleaner. Does anyone have any experience with this particular product? I think it's very similar to the 'python' sold at drsfostersmith.com.
Before I use this to clean my aquarium (I want to clean the plants and stones with it without having to remove them; that seems to stress the fish out a bit), I wanted to know if anyone thought it was a decent product. I have horrible visions of my fish being sucked up into it or harmed in some way. ^^;; I'm the nervous sort, I suppose.
Thank you!

Re: cleaning aquarium stones and plants...

From what I can see, it's a battery-powered gravel vacuum, with a little net to catch debris. I wouldn't expect the product to be able to clean your plants and decorations very well - it looks more suited for getting debris out of the substrate, and for sucking up stuff you may have floating in your tank.

I've never used a battery-powered vacuum, so I'd be careful not to get fish trapped in the vacuuming chamber thing at the bottom - your fish should be able to avoid it, and the suction should not be so strong to suck the fish into the chamber.
