Am I understanding it correctly that your PH is 7.6?

If so, why are you concerned?

8.3 isn't dangerously high. driftwood should bring it down a little. My cons sit 7.6-7.8 particuarly since 5 will be going in African Cichlid tanks with a PH of 8.0. I wouldn't be too worried, but if you are, bring it down naturally, no chemicals.

I wouldn't worry about it Tony, as long as the ph number remains stable, that's what counts (unless you have fish that require and/or do better in a lower ph)

My ph is probably the same as yours. On the regular API Ph test, mine is always the highest. And I don't have the high range test. But it's always the same color each time I test it, so I don't worry.

Hello Tony. I wouldn't worry too much about 8.3. Chances are it's going to fall a bit on it's own over time. Anytime you have a low test and a high test in the same kit, and the low maxes out at 7.6 a High test should be done.

My juvie Bloody Parrots tank has been up to 8.5 - 9.0 at times with no problems. Although that isn't the pH level that I strive for. My tap well water pH is off the charts it's so high (so I have to add distilled to my tap at times, but not all the time). Right now it sits comfortably at 8.0

Wow that would make my heart stop to have a FW go to 8.0. I never thought that could be.
