How to clean caves and tubes

My two common plecos will soon be moving to a new (larger) tank. From my experience with the smaller tank, they tend to poop in their hidey holes quite a bit. Those are too small to get any suction from the gravel vac.

Are you all directing air or water into the caves somehow to clean them out? If not, what are you doing to clean them?

I intend to have these integrated more into the aquascape than before, so removal will be infrequent at best.

Hello Pete. Sometimes a turkey baster will work for really tight spots. I know it sounds odd but it does the trick. Also you could just use clear tubing without the vacuum attachment and suck it right out.

Ahh, ye old turkey baster comes up again. Looks like I need to get one of those for my aquarium toolkit

I didn't even think about just using the clear tubing (the vac I have is all integrated) makes perfect sense.

Thanks.

If i get poo in there, I remove them and rinse them in a bucket of tank water...but otherwise, I let the caves be and let the natural process take over
