My tank is in a room nowhere near a sink in the second floor. I really need to clean the gravel. How would I go about doing that?

If your tank is small (say, 10 - 30 gallons), you can simply siphon the dirt out of the gravel into a bucket, then carry the bucket with the water to the sink. That's how I do it in my 10 and 30 gallon tanks. You can get a cheap siphon tube at any fish store. But if a tank is large, a Python gravel vac is usually best.
