Test Kits?

Which water chemistry test kits are best?
Are the one dip strips that test 6 different levels as good as the "lab" kits where I have to put drops or tabs in test tubes.

Also maybe I am a little color blind as I have a helluva time trying to decide if the sample is pink, pinker or pinkest. I wish I could use something that just produced numbers so I don't have to guess. I do use a pH meter that I have more my winemaking .

The strip ones I have found to be very bad.

I myself have trouble guessing whether its one of three shades.

Chemical ones are the best. Many here use the API general test kit, which is a real money-saver. I bought mine all seperate...

almost all of the members here, including myself, swear by the API freshwater master test kit, it's a liquid tester and is extremely accurate. it's more expensive than the paper strips but will last a LOT longer. it does have the color charts, but they're a lot easier to read than the strips as well.
