Water Replacment

hi,
I Think that replacing the tank water at least once a fortnight is correct, however some people say that if I change the water my fish might die?? or become sick and that it is not actually any good for them??

Now I Think that changing the water is essential for the fishes health but is any of the above thoughts correct in any way

Also any tips on how to change the water correctly in case Ive been doing it wrong?

Thanks

no, water changes are definitely necessary for the health of your fish water changes help to add oxygen, minerals, etc to the water and it also keeps the nitrAtes at a level that isn't toxic (under 20ppm is a good place to aim).

most people use gravel vacuums or a python in order to remove water from their tank. you get the gravel vacuum started and it uses gravity and suction in order to remove water from your tank. you also use it to do exact what the name implies, vacuum the gravel that way you can get up any leftover food and fish waste so it doesn't cause an ammonia spike in your tank. then you can use tap water or the shower/bathtub to fill up buckets at about the same temperature as your tank, add your water conditioner, and then pour them into the tank.

you're welcome

oh, and it's generally recommended to do water changes every week of anywhere between 20-50%
