Cleaning a used fish tank I just got?

My Aunt just gave me a fish tank. She had turtles in it before. The tank has been empty for more than a year. I am re siliconing it in a few days. But what can I use to clean it good and how would I go upon cleaning it. I want to make sure it is as clean as possible because I know turtles can sometimes carry salmonela.

I use CLR first to get all the calcium deposits out and then use the bleach like Shawnie said.

make sure you fill it up outside first and leave it for at least two days to check for any leaks. when you fill up the tank add LOTS of conditioner if you use bleach to kill any bleach that you may have missed when rinsing
