help!? ammonia high

I'm asking this question for a customer at the pet store that I work at. She has high ammonia around 2.0+ PPM. The tank size is 55gal. She has tried Cycle(useless), various ammonia removers and is currently doing 10% water changes daily. The tank contains 2 large goldfish and smaller goldfish 1 pleco and five cories. The tank has been up for a while and not had problems prior despite the number of fish. I asked the beginner check questions (e.g. Did you change all filter media at the same time? etc.) Any Ideas to lower it?

Cycle contains the wrong kind of bacteria.
Tetra SafeStart will instantly cycle the tank.
Also, you may want to tell her, that Goldies are coldwater & cories are tropical.
She will have to do 50% water changes until the cycle is through.

Goldfish and Plecos are MASSIVE waste producers. I'd hazard a guess that the tank can no longer cope with the amount of waste being produced. It would be helpful to know exactly how big the fish are, how many Goldfish, and what type of filtration system is being used.

with daily water changes of 50% and some prime or stress coat+, she can finish up the cycle in a few weeks...what a great employee to help her the right way!
