How the heck do you guys clean a tank with sand? I want to put sand in a tank but I have'nt figured out how I would clean it. I would think that a gravel vac would suck up the sand to.

you just stick the vac ABOVE the sand and suck up what is on top. I would suggest MTS for cleaning underneath the sand and to stir it.

I used a coat hanger modified to gently turn the sand to make sure no bad spots formed. (better to turn off internal filters while your doing that, sand can damage them) Then i'd gently swirl the vacuum above the sand, to remove waste. You'll soon figure out how close you can get before sand moves as well
