will my tank start leaking?

I have something under the caulking of my 30 gal hex. I don't think it's algae, the LFS say it's probably from meds or chemicals added to the tank. I put in Liquid CO2 ( Seachem Flourish excel)every 2-3 days, some plant food (API Leaf Zone) once a month during water changes and because I have an R/O unit I put in a mineral substitute (Seachem Equilibrium).

You can lift up the caulk with your fingernail where the dark areas are, and I'm afraid if it gets worse, the seams will start to leak. Has this happened to anyone else?

that happened to my 30 hex, it hasn't leaked yet but I am also concerned. the silicone started to bubble on mine and then the edges of it started to come off, I think the silicone is just tired and needs ti be stripped and re sealed. I'll leave that to the new owner. How old is the tank? has it ever been resealed?

This has also happened to my tank. In mine it appears to be algae. If I carefully take a toothbrush and lightly scrub away the algae it takes care of it. On the other hand, you're right, the silicone sealer is beginning to lift. How long do we have till it starts leaking, if ever? Mine is just on the edge but not all the way into the corner. I suppose if your really nervous about it, you could reseal.
By the way your tank is beautiful with all the plants, all looks healthy and well.

Thanks for the comps... It's nice to here others enjoy all the hard work I put into them. My wife and kids could care less. Resealing would mean starting over again...YUCK!!!

By the way Jess; I just got a 75 gal tank 2 weeks ago and plan on setting it up for discus (right now I'm cycling it). You can see my new tank on my profile. I saw your photo gallery and you have some awesome Discus!!! May I put you on my friends list and bug you when I have questions?

Sure, and that's so exciting. I'm still pretty new at it. I've had my guys just over a year now. You're welcome to ask away anytime. Also we have Matt aka Slug. He has beautiful discus and looks like he's gearing up to breed them. Katecape has a few discus too.
I'm going to check out your profile and check out your tanks. Thanks, Jess

PS I'm saving up for a larger tank, but it looks like its going to be a while. : (
