Soap and fish

I forgot that I had washed my hands with soap and then I put a decoration in a tank that I was cleaning which I had already took the fish out. Do I have to start the tank over or what should I do? Please respond soon.

Re: Soap and fish

depends how big the tank is and how much soap there was. It probably wont harm them but you should change the water immediately because it would be like having soap in your mouth and eyes all day.

Re: Soap and fish

Never mind another forum said unless my hands were dripping soap suds than I should have nothing to worry about and that if I wanted to I could do a 20% water change. And to look when I add water to see if any unusual suds appear and if they don't then nothing to worrie about. So sorry guys.

Re: Soap and fish

I would do a large water change anyway. Doesn't take long or much effort to do the water change. If it should hurt your fish its too late then. Just my thoughts.
