ahhhh this is annoying

sigh***

i was doing a water change and decided to do some siphoning yesterday...

so i got it vacuuming and when i stick it in the soil, all my mud and dirt gets sucked up into the tubes and clogs my siphon up, lol

Its a new tank with only 2 fish and 6 shrimp so i asked for some dwarf hairgrass for christmas with the hope that the grass will catch a lot of waste and stuff...

Do you guys think this will work better?

When you say "mud and dirt", do you literally mean that, or do you mean something like eco-complete substrate?

I've never had a planted tank, but the substrates I've used have never been that light to get completely sucked up. Why kind of siphon do you use?

yeah its eco-complete substrate, i threw away the label, but it is just a normal siphon from a LFS.

ive never had that problem either, even in my reef tanks that have very fine sand in them
