Do you ever wish you only had one tank?

I've spent half my day cleaning tanks and the other half doing house work and I'm REALLY burnt out.

I love my fish but I kind of wish I didn't let my obsession get out of hand.

I have a 55g, 29g, 10g, 3 -5g, 3- 2.5g.

Between the fish tanks, my house....dishes, laundry, 3 kids, and working part time...I'm constantly doing chores.

I'm just whining tonight.

I used to feel that way
But then I decided to split my tank cleaning up so I do 2 a day now, Not so overwhelming I also work part time,Have a house to keep clean, and a Hubby,Daughter and grandson...and 9 tanks, 10 counting my daughters LOL
Maybe that would help you out some
Your aloud to whine once in a while We understand!!!

Well, I didn't get water changes done yesterday because Hubby and I decided to clean out the boys rooms and get rid of a bunch of toys. A literal truck load of toys that went to the donation center later, I was way too pooped for water changes on the big tanks. If I had been smart, I would have done the changes on the 3 - 5 gallon tanks and the 6 gallon, but I watched football instead! (I would have been better off doing water changes with yesterdays Cowboys performance...) I will be doing a couple of tanks a night this week, although I probably wont do the 65 and the 30 on the same night.

Back to the original question though - even though it is hard to get water changes done some weeks, I love all of my tanks and don't want to give any up!!

I like my 55 and would love just a 120. I would give up the 55, and 2-10's for the big one.
It seems like it would be easier. Bigger, but easier. Am I crazy?

For regular maintenance, yeah it's easier. But when it time to do a re haul or move Have a smaller tank for a hospital and QT. It costs a fortune to have to treat a 120g.

I was thinking of that also. I complain about the volume of meds for a 55. Then wonder how expensive it would be for a 120. The only problem I have for the QT is that it seems that if one fish has it they all most likely do. If I suspect ick, I medicate the whole tank, for example. What do you think?

I only have one tank, so I don't have that problem. Sometimes, I get dreamy-eyed thinking about a second tank...but I don't want something I enjoy to start feeling like a chore.

I have a feeling I will end up with a second tank someday though!

I have had pets since I was a little kid, when I was younger and until I was a teenager I had so many pets that everyone called my house a zoo and wanted to see my animals when they came over. I used always want to come home early when I spent the night at people houses because I knew my animals needed to be feed and so on, (It felt like I had kids that needed me to come home heh). I know my friends got annoyed lol. So I would usually have them spend the night at my house hehe. I have 3 tanks and other animals right now and it can be stressful at times like with anything, BUT I wouldn't change it for the world since pretty much my pets are a big part of my world and who I am!!!!! (I don't know of that sounds lame...its really true though....)

I don't know what fish you have in your tanks, but a larger (55-75) would sure be alot easier to maintain..Your maintenance per week would be cut in half at least..I have a 55 and a 75 and with my python I spend about 1/2 hour per week on water changes..just an idea..

I can kind of see your point . I only wanted 1 big tank but getting my one big tank I inherieted 7 fish that require a tropical tank. so i have 2 tanks. I would like to find another 55 and have a big coldwater and a big tropical, but then i would need a 3rd 55 for a saltwater i have a headache thinkin of all the work

I wouldn't mind having less tanks and but having larger tanks for example: One huge Lake Malawai Biotope, one huge SA Biotope, etc. I could never have just one tank though...... I like keeping too many different types of fish

I never wish I had only one tank, but I frequently wish I only had to maintain one tank.

To be honest I always (not sometimes) wish to have just one (more) tank. Just one more, if you follow me.... and then some.

Extra filtration can buy me a day or two, as well as doing more frequent partial water changes when up to it (most of the time). I keep a flexible schedule (enough routines in life), maintenance-keeping is stress-relieving for me, although my back sometimes has a different opinion.

1gal (newborn fry)
5gal (hospital)
5.5gal (male betta)
10gal (hospital)
29gal bow (Angelfish tank)
40gal (Rainbowfish tank)
55gal (Kenyi tank) (in set up)
145gal (Oscar tank)

wish list: 28gal wide, 29gal long.
