Fly larvae on carbonfilter

I just figured out that the worms on my carbonfilter are fly larvae. Is that bad for my fish at all?I don't know where they come from and how to get rid of them.I just scrubbed my filter and put a new cartridge in it.They are also in my Angel tank.If anybody could help me with this problem that would be greatly appreciated.

I would asume that they could probably eat them.....I think people breed flys for those, so they can feed certain species of fish and other animals. I've never heard of flys laying eggs in a filter but I guess it could happen....

They would be fine to feed to the angelfish.

I would decrease feeding.
I would expect, the flies are attacted to the excess food caught in the filter and laid eggs.

You could try to cover the vents on the top of the f ilter with small netting so they can't get in? (Like the kind from actual fish nets, Ive used it before to cover the vent on the filter tube in the tank to keep small fish and shrimp from being sucked up.) I'm not sure the kind of carbon filter you've got, though.... Hope this helps
