White spots on glass canopy

I bought this tank from my cousin, and to say the least he did very poor maintenance on it.... the glass canopy is the only thing that I havent been able to clean very well, it has white circle shaped water stains where he never bothered to clean it. It probably wouldnt bother me except I have a lifted light... so you see the spots very well and also they probably arent helping with light penetration for my plants. I've already tried : windex... a razor blade... a scrubbing pad... and CLR, all seemed to do absolutely nothing. So do you guys think its etched into the glass from never being cleaned and that I should just spring for a new canopy

Have you tried vinegar? It's good for removing hard water spots. You might need to let it set on it a while.

Not yet, but the last thing I tried was the CLR so I figured if that didnt work then nothing would lol.... I might as well give the vinegar a shot though, its cheaper than a new canopy!

Thanks Lucy =)

Your welcome Mr Ninja lol

Vinegar is a heck of a lot cheaper than a new lid.
I hope it works.

maybe try one of those Mr Clean Magic Erasers. Ive been able to get some rediculous spots off with those, it might work for those caked on water spots.

The two things I've found to most effectively remove hard water stains on tanks, dishes and cups has been vinegar or hot sauce. The hotter the sauce, the better I've found.
