Does any one know if the plastic strip around the bottom of a 55 gal. tank is just for looks or is it part if the structural integrity of the tank. Mine is broken but it stll holds water fine. I am curiuos.
it helps make the joints were it has the silicon stronger by having the plastic strip around it to help keep the joints together.
you may not be having problems with it as of right now. but later down the road as the tank gets older it can start leaking.
Thanks so much I will work on getting it reenforced ASAP. I need the tank for my mollies as my 3 girls are about to go again and I have molly fry in all of my other tanks. This one was a freebe so I need to make use of it. So much for the 3 mollies I got for my daughter.
atleast you got it for free. i would much rather fix it for a little amount of money, then too spend a lot of money on a new one.lol
you should be fine though once you get it fixed
