Question regarding food...

My Green Terror never really liked pellets. When I first got him, I never saw him eat anything for 2 or 3 days. Finally I saw him nibbling on a pellet here and there, and I figured his lack of eating was just because he was getting used to his new home and surroundings, but he never seemed like he was that into eating. Then I purchased a can of freeze dried shrimp- mainly to just supplement my fish's diet and for a special treat now and then... and he went absolutely nuts for them. I've tried various sizes and brands of Cichclid pellets- Hikari Cichlid Staple, Wardley cichlid pellets, and Omega 1 cichlid pellets, as well as tropical fish flakes but he won't touch any of them... but he'll eat as many dried shrimp as I give him- he even takes them from my hand. I also occasionally give him an earthworm or two, and he always gobbles them up before they reach the bottom of the tank. But he still refuses any type of pellets or flakes.

So my question is... is it okay to just feed him dried shrimp everyday? I don't know if he's getting all the nutrition he needs from just the shrimp. Should I starve him till he has no choice but to eat other foods or just continue to let him eat what he wants? Or is there anything else I could try? Any help would be appreciated.

Re: Question regarding food...

Variety ensures that he is getting everything he needs, even if he just nibbles other stuff he is still getting something different.
