| the africans that i keep are constantly moving the substrate around, if they arent eatting it then its getting stirred up so the filters can suck it in. i dont think its a concern. |

| Most everyone I know with Africans use Bristlenose plecos with them with good results.

i would rather have smaller more peaceful ones, and lots of color |

| i looked at that but it was sorta hard because most of them didnt have their common names
but which group would some of you suggest, in your experience,it can be any group, it doesnt hav to be african? |

out of my african tank, I think my peacocks & labs are the most mild..but they hold their own also... |

| i think red zebras and frontosa are my favorites. im currently keeping frontosa, yellow lab, purple tail acei, eartheaters, and red zebras. |

| oh im sorry, i forgot about the tank in question. shawnie is right. you could put a a few acei, zebras, and labs in the 50g, would make for an active and very colorful tank. |
