Turquiose Jewels

Title says it all....
Anyone heard of these? They were for sale at Petco

I think they are just juvie reds ... males get more red as they grow

They are just a color variation of the regular jewels. They are pretty though. There are two different species of jewels that you usually find. Hemichromis bimaculatus Most jewels in LFS are these and Hemichromis lifalili (Blood Red Jewels) the blood reds are redder and when adults don't have the spot on the middle of the body...(I think anyway..lol..)

Alright, I was just curious because Petco near me always has hard to find fish that no one else seems to sell. So when I saw these, I was interested in them for my 150.
They also have two types of Severums & Flowerhorns!
Oh oh oh, and a LEMON Oscar. I was drooling, Joe had to pull me away.
I see another big tank in my future.....

LOL...I don't blame you..I'm pretty sure the Turquoise are a varient of the bimaculatus. they would do good I think in your tank as long as they are a good size and won't be lunch

lemons rock! they were just coming out a few years ago when I had to let mine go but I love their coloring ....
