What cichlid is it?!?

I bought three cichlids yesterday thinking their colors resembled a German Blue Ram (GBR). When I got home I saw some pictures online and realized I wasn't looking at a GBR... I don't know what he is can someone help? Will he play nice with my community tank fish? (cardinals, gourami, cory's)

Thanks

its an african cichlid 100% and I think its a Borleyi (not 100%) ..if so, he can reach up to 7 inches and are agressive....wait for other members to be sure but he looks like it...

EDIT: http://www.cichlid-forum.com/articles/c_borleyi.php ..recommended tank is 75 gals ..

Could be Shawnie's suggestion or maybe a Aulonocara species.
Sorry thats the best I can do for now.

Brian

I have seen that fish for sale around here lately but can't remember what it is, sorry I don't keep up on the African names I probably should.
If noone else chimes in I will look it up and find it for you.

I think its' a Aulonocara stuartgranti

Maybe this one- look at the FO male 1 under images (right under pic)

Either way it really does not belong in a community tank.

Most definitely a Malawi Peacock male, hands down. About 95% sure its Aulonocara stuartgranti red shoulder (Aulonocara hansbaenschi).

Most likely Captive born so you will never figure out the variant. The source of this fish (roots of the family tree) are most likely much to distant. I'd just classify it as a Red Shoulder Peacock myself.

Is that Texas holey rock and coral in the tank? If so, the water will be hard and alkaline, which suits African cichlids quite well.
