hello, i have a problem with an angelfish in my fish tank. It swimming on its side and its very weak. I think the blue gourami in the same tank might of nipped at it. Ive put aquarium salt and some aloe vera to maybe save the fish. I've checked all the water levels and everythign is ok. Is this common for a gourami to attack an angel?

Gouramis get very aggresive and will take an oppurtunity to take an easy meal, aka your angel fish. Do you perhaps have a breeding box or divider to seperate the angel fish from the rest? How long have you had these fish?

the angel has been in longer. the angel is dead is looked like it had a spot on the side like it was hit.

You must have a mean gourami, I have a 5 1/2 inch blue gourami in with 1cm platy fry and he has never looked at them like they are food. He has no problem with guppy fry either. He has never attacked any of my other fish.

so sorry to hear of your loss, i have a golden gourami in with a koi angel and no problems, at the same time, i have a blue gourami that constantly nipped at my angel and had to relocate the blue to a new tank, every fish has their own personality and what might work with one fish doesnt always work with another
