feeding acei fry

i just added 8 yellow tail acei that are about 1/2" to my mbuna tank last week and want to make sure im feeding them well enough. what i have been doing is just crushing my cichlid flake up small enough for them to eat and to small for my yellow labs to wanna mess with. they all seem to be eating the tiny flake bits just fine, is there anything else i should be feeding as well?

I use ken's fish food, he has a ton of different flakes, pellets, crumbles (and cheap).
I use the veggie flakes as a "staple" then rotate in other types of food.

Try blanching it, or using zuchhini, hulled peas... just grab something from the garden and clean it up.
My cichlids love it.

You can blanch it, but I rinse it and put it in the tank like it is cut up in a long section on a veggie clip.

I put an entire leaf of green lettuce...on a veggie clip..the leaf is about 4 times the size of my fish...48 hours later, its gone...but you cant feed them in between ...otherwise they are like kids and will eat the flakes and such before they go near the lettuce...it takes them time to know veggies before dessert

hmm... I must have healthfood nuts in my tanks, they prefer the veggies over the flakes. I do know though cichlids are smart enough to fool us into feeding them what they want. I had a group of peacocks that insisted on bloodworms.
