Ok, Well my hemichromis lifalili (Blood Red Jewels) don't wast any time at all. I've barely had them 24 hours and they are already showing signs. They both have colored up a TON, they are digging holes in the sand around, He's shaking his money maker for her..lol..and she's full of eggs!!!!. I don't even have a sponge filter in there yet!!!..I got a video of some of the action and I'm going to try to catch the actual spawn!!!..Wish them luck!!! and me!!

Thanks guys!!. We put the sponge filter over the intake of the canister filter and it ticked them off a little but hopefully they will continue on with the important business of making babies.

Ok..They were in full swing breeding mode and we put the sponge filter in and now they are preoccupied with it..lol..Get over it already it's a sponge..lol...Hope we didn't throw them off to much.

They still haven't breed..I've been checking on them here and there in between glasses of wine..lol..No eggs yet. I really hope we didn't disturb them with the sponge filter thing. Lesson number 1 for me. Don't mess around in tank while breeding behavior is going on.

Just an update.
I've watched enough flirting to last me the rest of my life..lol
They have both colored up AMAZINGLY. I wish I could get a picture but I don't want to bother them. They are absoultly stunning though. Especially the male. He looks like a bright red strawberry. I don't think the female is quite ready yet she is kinda half heartily flirting.
It's like a bad movie..You want to quit watching but just can't peel yourself away...lol..This is great experience for me and I'm loving watching all of this. I'll keep ya posted if anything new develops..like eggs perhaps.

They can take a few days Cesch! My Kribs and Jewels faf around for AGES arranging the substrate how they want it before they spawn!

Yeah, that's what they are doing. They've dug huge pits in the sand in about 3 different places. They keep cleaning off a particular rock and doing the dance but then she swims away to another possiable spawning sight..lol..It's been goin on for about a day so I guess I shouldn't get so impatient but this is my first spawn and it's sooo exciting..lol.
