need help stocking a cichlid tank w/ pics!

i dont really know much about cichlids other than they are generally a 'mean' fish and the ones i have been looking at all require rockwork and plenty of caves, and need very hard water.

ill be basing my stock list from this thread. im leaning towards smaller sized cichlids because my caves arent that big, most of them have about a 2" - 3" tall clearance.

please take a look at the pictures and tell me how YOU would stock it.

sorry for the crappy pictures, they are from my phone, ill try to update the thread in the morning with better ones.

i was actually looking more along the lines of the African Lakes, for no reason other than they seem to be smaller when full grown

Your tank looks great!! Depending on which type of cichlids you get, a lot of plants will help them be comfortable....I'm not sure about the African types, I think they prefer the rocky look with hiding places.. I only do the South American Dwarfs now and am getting heavily planted, with Rocks, Caves, and driftwood.
Larger cichlids of any type generally will disturb the plants.

thanks for the compliments everybody. i guess i forgot to add some crucial information as well.

the filtration i have lined out is a JBJ reaction canister filter rated for up to 150g. i will also start the tank using an established emperor 280, i hope i can remove the emperor once the canister filter has been seeded tho.

my heater is a Hydor 300w inline heater.

all the plants in the picture are silk, i have more that i can add in. i just did a quick placement with the plants to fill some of the upper space, but most of the cichlids i have researched seem to not like plants.

most africans like plants like to eat em and if they dont taste good just pull em up ,,but if you can get some to grow that they dont pull up or eat they will grow the algae on em that the afrians love to nibble off the leaves its pretty cool,, most africans are omnivores
throw em a slice of cucumber as a treat
