Change substrate

Hi, I've recently set up a malawi tank, its been up and running for 6 or 7 weeks, and everything is going well. I'm now thinking of changing my substrate from gravel, possibly to crushed coral. My question is how best do I do this without having to cycle again?
Looking forward to replies, this site has been such a great help

welcome to fishlore!!!
if you have a good sustaining cycle, just put the gravel all in a nylon stocking and hide it inside the tank somewhere or hang it over the side and just put in your crushed coral...or you could just put the coral on top of your gravel...

Thanks for the reply. I'm just so afraid of messing things up as the tank hasn't been cycled for very long. Made a bad choice of bright blue gravel in the beginning so will be glad to get rid!

either of those methods will work and just keep an eye on things as you still could have a mini cycle but shouldnt last long if you do share some pics when you can ...we love pics

hi and welcome

i wouldn't hang the nylon over the side though, i made that mistake once and water got everywhere, something about the wick effect that i don't really understand, lol
