They are a blast, and very skittish. My two never cease to amaze me as to how weird they can be one second i can move and it doesnt bother them the next i can just look at the tank and they both fly into the stump, almost like they are doing something they shouldnt be.

LOL. parrots are very cool fish, with their BIG eyes, and round O mouth, its like...'I'm watching you', and 'what did I do? oh oh.. they are so silly, and easily becoming a popular fish, wouldn't you say?

LOL... Fishmom, they are such a source of entertainment in a tank.
I just love this fish species myself. Mine are so funny too. They will run and hide when you come to the tank, and making sure you have plenty of 'caves' for them ( I use pots)they feel much more secure. They are adorable when they go into a cave then peek out at you. haha... once they feel secure, they will come back out and greet you at the glass. Yes, they sure do have little 'kissy faces' hahah....

You'll enjoy them. I have 9 Bloody Parrots that I've had for 7 years and some for 5 years. I've been an aquarist all my life (now 48). Their tank mates are 6 silver dollars 3 rainbows 1 pleco and 1 cory cat. I've even taught the blood parrots to do a trick. I can circle my finger on the tank at feeding time....then the fish do a complete upside down circle in the tank. AWESOME. Too, they love to swim up-side-down at times. Very playful.
Enjoy! (ps don't worry about black spots it's part of their growth cycle). 155 gal bow front tank.

I figured them changing colors is a growth thing. I have plenty of places for them to hide out in there and it seems that they are the only fish in my tank that can share the stump with my pictus cat, other than my blue 3 spot gourami and my pleco Kernal Klink. Which my JD hides in there sometimes but he is more of an attention hog so he is constantly trying to get my attention and sometimes chases them off if he thinks he isnt getting attention and they are
