Cichlid compatability...?

Hey everyone.

In my 72G i have a 4-5 inch jack dempsey and a 2-3 inch bolivian ram, i love cichlids and i also have 2 marble angels in the tank, all of these cichlids get along fine and i was wondering if there are any other smaller size SA cichlids i could add to my tank?

All suggestions are appreciated

Thanks

I recently added 2 Jewel Cichlids to my Oscar tank who are doing fne. I'm not sure how Rams and Angels will do with the JD when it gets bigger though?

Ive have been thinking that over, at the moment the jack isnt bothered by them and theyve been together since they were small, but then again that could all change.
I will have to have a look at jewel cichlids as i dont know much about them.
Thanks for the suggestion

i have an angel catfish in there, £30 he cost me :O (dont know what £30 is in $) and hes very cool.
I was thinking of silver dollars but they always seem quite boring to me . Especially when they get big.
Ive read about Jewel cichlids Nick and i think maybe just one would be a great addition to the tank

Jewel and Bolivian might be a problem from my experiences where Jewels can become very aggressive as both will tend to be at bottom. At lease Bolivian is in there first.
Maybe if starts w/ bit smaller Jewels

Platy Ben, I agree with cerianthus's post...
I had jewel cichlids in my tank before and I can tell you that they tend to be very aggressive and especially to the rams at the bottom of my tank.
As beautiful as they are, I would not chance adding them to a tank unless you are ready for the headaches that will be sure to come...
I understand that Nick is having better luck with his Jewel in the tank but that is the exception to the rule...
Just wanted you to be warned and maybe more research on this idea is warranted.

My Jewels are doing fine, but only because they can't bully Oscars that are 10 times their size! I wouldn't put them in any of my other tanks though!

Hi Nick,
I understand that your jewels are doing great with the Oscar, how are the two of them(the jewels) together tho? I know that they are aggressive to their own species. Are they still young?
Only reason I mentioned about the jewels in PlatyBens post was that he had bolivian rams and I think that he was taking your suggestion on the jewels with them and I felt he needed to be warned on that combo.

They're getting on Ok at the moment, mind it's a BIG tank with a lot of hiding places. They're still young, but one is dominant, he's slightly bigger and more colourful. I definatly wouldn't keep them with anything other than big or aggressive Cichlids though. They're far more aggressive than the Oscars. If the Oscars were still babies I wouldn't keep them together.

Hmm maybe not jewels then, i was going to look at some tomorrow, at the LFS , i will still look but i probably wont get any.
Ive always liked the look of firemouth cichlids or most species of acara cichlids, especially flag acaras, does anybody know much info on these?
Thanks for all of your help guys!
