Hi I have a pair of Keyhole chiclids, and the female keeps grabbing oxygen from the surface then going behind one of my aquarium rocks and releasing it. Can anyone please help me in telling me what the chiclid is doing? Thanks Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Not sure on the breeding habits, so I will ask some Qs
Is your tank 4 weeks old?
Are any other fish acting funny?
What are your reading for ammonia nitrite and nitrate?
Do you have a air stone or bubbler in the tank?

Yes I have 2 air stones and the other fish seem fine, they get chased away by the female keyhole. Ammonia and everything is fine.

Fine? What are the exact readings for ammonia nitrites and nitrates?
When something seems odd, it's best to rule out water problems.

nitrite is less than .1, ammonia is 0 and i don't have a kit for nitrates
