New Cichlids....unsure if I'm doing this right...

Hey all,

So, over the past few months, all my fish died due to a leaking tank, new tank setup, tank crash situation I had. SO, I decided to get some cichlids now that all that is behind me.

I think that I'm alright for now, but unsure. All my parameters are good, but I'm unsure about my stocking. Here's what I have.

55 gal tank

1x acei cichlid
1x electric yellow cichlid
1x unknown (maybe electric blue,is purplish in color with darker vertical stripes, will get pic soon)
1x compressiceps cichlid
2x electric blue jack dempsey's

Evertyhing seems to be going extremely well and everyone is getting along. I aslo have a boesmani rainbow in the tank whooddly seems to be the most aggressive of all the fish.

So I guess I'm looking for advice, tips, pointers, etc. etc.

thanks

You have african cichlids mixed with new world cichlids and they are not compatable. The acei and yellow are malawi mbuna, they require hard water w/ a pH of 7.8+
The compressiceps is a lake tang (west african)

The other cichild you have, the JD are new world

The rainbow is def out of place with the africans, they go w/ new world cichild tanks.

I would advise to either stick to the new world guys or the malawi.

If you go w/ the malawi they need to be slightly overstocked w/ 1 male to 2 female ratio.

Heres a website to help you get stocked right: http://www.cichlid-forum.com/article...cutter_55g.php

I may be wrong, but I would hazard a guess that the Jack Dempseys would bully/kill the other African Cichlids in the tank as they get bigger?
