hi Swimbear,
hopefully one of our cichlid experts will come around and give you a hand with the ID. I looked through my fish book and didnt find anything that looked like the first photo. Which btw.. that is a gorgeous fish! I love the markings on it.

Those are Malawi cichlids...the first one seems to be an OB zebra female..which would make he a she.
http://www.cichlid-forum.com/profile...ies.php?id=807
The second one could one of many Malawi mbuna species. There are so many shades of blue stripes that most times it's hard to id them by just a picture. It is a he tho, most likely a pseudotropheus species. http://www.cichlid-forum.com/profile....php?genus=167
Hope this helps.

Malawi species are best in groups of 4 or more 1 male to 3 females. Here's the best info on beginners with cichlids. There aggression levels range from mild to highly aggressive...so when choosing tank mates you need to keep all mild together or all highly aggressive. Trust me this will save you a lot of heartache and cash.

The second one could be a ps. elongatus

I had looked at the photo of the zebra cichlid in my book and saw some familiarities . The book shows no markings in the fins, as the photo above shows. Plus the zebra in the book has straight lines and not the blotches as the photo above. Is it because its a juvi?
EDIT
after looking at the photo in the link that Allie gave, it does look just like the fish above. I wonder why my book shows it differently?

I am thinking this could be it? Pseudotropheus sp. "Elongatus Ornatus"
