I can't think of anything else no. Even a pleco isn't a quick fix. Are you trying to get rid of algae? Look at the source, check your water, check your feeding schedule, and light schedule. Eliminate the source of it or it just comes back. IMO your best bet for an algae eater is a
test kit and scrub pad.
If its to clean up food, look into Syndontis catfish, they wouldn't eat algae but they do eat scraps of food. And they do well with African cichlids.
I'm not a fan of plecos as a source of waste control, whether it be algae, food, or poop. Because a pleco produces a lot of waste for one fish by itself. So it kind of adds to the problem rather then solving it.
